10 Weirdest Dracula Adaptations
4. Dracula: Pages From A Virgin's Diary
Wow! This one is mad. Even more insane in the light of the fact that it just works so well. It is so, so good.
A made for TV movie that was so well received it ended up getting a theatrical release. It’s a black and white, silent movie about ballet. Two silent mediums, with their own conventions, combined into one unique interpretation of Dracula, which despite style, stays close to the source material.
It is impossible to do justice to this one on paper. In fact, laid out in text it sounds like a hot mess of hyper pretentious crap. But, its beautiful set pieces, orchestral score and stunning performances imbue this with an ethereal beauty that many have aimed for in Dracula stories and which few have achieved.
It sounds inaccessible but it’s not. It’s definitely out there in concept but it’s also one of the best and most original Dracula adaptations of all time. It’s the one you’re least likely to have seen and the one you absolutely must watch.
