Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a disabled former Marine who travels to the planet Pandora to join an exploration program that is part scientific experiment and part military reconnaissance. He learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intent to drive off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the valuable material strewn throughout their rich woodland. He takes on the form of a native Navi creature, infiltrates a Navi society, and ultimately falls for a Navi girl named Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Neytiri is a warrior who appears to be hostile at all times but Jake soon scratches the exterior to reveal someone who is more emotionally driven then they'd like to admit. Things get pretty awkward when Neytiri learns that Jake is simply there to harvest her planets natural resources (not the best way to start off an interplanetary relationship). The weirdest part of it all is that Jake has to change species in order to make the relationship ultimately work. Heck, the average guy wouldn't even take a trip to 7-11 to get their girlfriend a blueberry Slurpee if she asked. Kudos to you big guy. So, did Jake and Neytiri live happily ever after? Well, with the upcoming sequel on the way, time will indeed tell.
