10 Weirdest Moments In The Early Days Of Marvel Movies

2. David Hasselhoff As Nick Fury

Samuel L Jackson is so clearly cemented in audiences' minds as Nick Fury, Agent Of SHIELD that Marvel have been going to some lengths to replace their original, crusty old white man Fury with a character who looks more like his movie counterpart. Which only makes it all the more surreal to return to Fury's original on-screen incarnation, played by David Hasselhoff. Yes, no joke: The Hoff, star of Baywatch, Knight Rider and that one viral video played the eye-patch clad SHIELD hero in yet another made-for-TV movie, once again for Fox. In fact he was sort of annoyed when Marvel €œrecast€ the role for Iron Man, annoyed that Samuel L Jackson is apparently more respected than him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cpbENgsXqM 1998's Nick Fury: Agent Of SHIELD plays like a cheesy direct-to-video action flick, with HYDRA clad in Men In Black-style suits and threatening to release a deadly pathogen on New York within 24 hours if their ransom isn't paid! The weirdest part is that it's played as a straight action flick, with no hints at superhero stuff...until the final frame, where Baron Von Strucker is brought of suspended animation.
