10 Weirdest Movie Crossovers Ever

9. Ralph Breaks The Internet

Ralph Breaks The Internet, or Look At All The Things Disney Owns: The Movie. It’s nowhere near as strange as some other ones here (hence why it’s near the bottom), but when you think about it, it is a strange concept.

The first movie played on video game tropes and classics, but it was much more subtle. Ralph was a mix of Donkey Kong and the Rampage monsters. Felix was kind of sort of Mario. There were references to things like Call Of Duty, Candy Crush, Tapper and Q-Bert, but they felt like riffs and knowing winks.

It never felt like any money was changing hands; the filmmakers were just paying tribute to the video games they loved.

Ralph Breaks The Internet lacks this grace and deftness. This is Branding, TM, being walloped into your face.

The scene with all the Disney Princesses was cute, but in a (albeit decent) movie that never felt necessary in the first place, it’s hard not to be cynical.

There’s now even talk of these Disney Princesses getting their own, non-canonical spin off. Much like ‘80s Hasbro shows, it’s hard to imagine this will be anything more than a feature length commercial.
