10 Weirdest Movie Crossovers Ever
5. The Good, The Bad, And Huckleberry Hound
The Good, The Bad, And Huckleberry Hound might sound like a parody at first (and it is) but it also qualifies as a crossover.
It came from the Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10 series, the same set of syndicated movies which brought the to be expected crossover of The Flintstones and The Jetsons.
The star here is obviously Huck himself, while a host of Yogi Bear characters and Peter Potamus also appear, as well as Dinky Dalton from Laff A Lympics. It’s the only Superstars 10 movie to have Huckleberry Hound in the lead, and it’s the weirdest one too.
Huckleberry Hound is a parody of the Man With No Name and other strong but silent cowboy cliches. He’s described by townsfolk as the mysterious, steely eyed stranger, though he just acts in his typical, slightly goofy and clumsy fashion.
The plot itself is essentially High Noon with a little bit of High Plains Drifter in there.
The film is infamous for its tragedy as well; Daws Butler, who voiced Huck, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Peter Potamus and Yogi Bear, died of a heart attack three days after its debut broadcast. It marks the final time he voiced these classic characters.
