10 Weirdest Places Horror Movie Characters Were Trapped In
8. A Balloon - Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space has rightly found its place in cult horror history as an ‘80s flick that may never be the best, but certainly will never be forgotten. Because what's more frightening than a homicidal clown? Well, homicidal clowns with sharp teeth, a big top spaceship, and an overwhelming desire to sip you like a slushie.
Able to defy gravity and manipulate their physical dimensions at will, this lot bring all the terror of the carnival into Crescent Cove, with an arsenal of gag-like weaponry that is anything but funny, including colourful bats, toy-like ray-guns, sentient shadow puppets, popcorn larvae, and, of course, balloons.
The latter is what they use to trap the movie's female lead and romantic interest Debbie (Suzanne Snyder), who rinses off in a nice warm shower only to find her flat under attack from a troupe of red-nosed varmints. They toy with her, corner her, and encase her in a giant, super-reinforced, yellow and red balloon that seems pretty much weightless with her inside. Luckily the lads are on hand to save her (Grant Cramer's Mike and John Allen Nelson's Dave), and pop that thing with a police-issue revolver. Better not to mention the candy floss cocoons.
