10 Weirdest Roles Of Johnny Depp's Career (So Far)

When you consider it, given how he actually appears rather ageless, it seems remarkable that it took Depp almost 30 years before he portrayed a vampire. The moment finally came in 2012, in Tim Burtons Dark Shadows, and the results were somewhat mixed. The film really struggles to nail down what tone it wants to go for, switching between soap opera, comedy and gothic creepiness and never quite managing to hit any of them successfully. Depps performance inevitably stutters a little as a result, but he does a great job of conveying the fish out of water - or vampire out of coffin - confusion and culture-shock of a man from the 1700s, who suddenly finds himself in the 1970s.

A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
