10 Well Known Actors Who Got Worse Over Time

Helena Bonham Carter was once an incredibly versatile and confident performer, embracing many large-scale releases. After getting her start in the mid-1980s, the British actress was able to break out with a main role in David Fincher's Fight Club.

The 1999 film remains iconic to this day and Carter played the damaged addict Marla, who formed a polygamous relationship with both the narrator and Tyler Durden. She played a big part in making Fight Club a success and subsequently made her way into many other franchises.

Throughout the late 2000s she was a regular fixture in British cinema, appearing in films like Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Her deranged portrayal of Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies was especially well received, as was her turn in The King's Speech, which snagged her a BAFTA award.

Yet from the 2010s onwards, the actress has worked through many duds. On the silver screen, Carter is now mostly relegated to lacklustre blockbusters after solid performances in older media, most notably Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland. Be that as it may, her recent performance in The Crown has kept her career from going off the rails completely, and there's still a chance she could yet mount an on screen resurgence.
