10 Worst Accidental Deaths In Horror Movies
2. Charlie Graham - Hereditary
No horror movie death in recent years has provoked as visceral a reaction from audiences as Charlie's (Milly Shapiro) shock demise at the end of Hereditary's first act.
Charlie attends a party with her brother Peter (Alex Wolff), and goes into anaphylactic shock after eating cake containing nuts. An incredibly high Peter then frantically drives Charlie to the hospital, all while she sticks her head out the car window in an attempt to breathe.
However, Peter swerves the car to avoid a dead deer in the road and Charlie's head is slammed into a telephone pole, instantly decapitating her.
The death itself is bad enough, but director Ari Aster's approach to the aftermath is absolutely merciless. We stay with a shocked Peter as he drives home and leaves the car, complete with Charlie's remains, in the driveway.
Charlie's corpse is then discovered by her mother Annie (Toni Collette) the next morning, prompting her to scream out with a discomfortingly authentic, aggrieved wail.
It becomes even worse when we discover later in the film that this was all orchestrated by a coven to free the demon-king Paimon from Charlie's body and break Peter's spirit enough to make him the new host.
Better yet, the marketing very cleverly concealed Charlie's death and made it seem like she'd have a much larger role throughout the movie. If you saw Hereditary in the cinema, you'll likely never forget the air of gut-wrenching nervous tension when Charlie died.
