10 WORST Actor Replacements In Movies

7. George - George of the Jungle 2 (2003)

Pretty much anyone who grew up in the '90s with a pair of eyes and a TV knows the Tarzan rip-off George of Jungle (1997). It's not perfect, but there are plenty of laughs and an all-star cast, which includes Brendan Fraser as George, alongside John Cleese, Leslie Mann, and Thomas Haden Church, who sustain the hackneyed fish-out-of-water premise for the full 90 minutes. Job done.

Or so we thought.

If ever a film didn't need a sequel - never mind one released six years later, after all the pop culture capital had dried up and young audiences had moved on - it was this. And Brendan Fraser agreed. To replace him, studio execs brought in Christopher Showerman, who swung, hollered, and goofy-grinned his way through a serious slog of a film in which the new George attempts to save Ape Mountain from his nemesis Lyle Van de Groot (Church).

The part isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it seems as though it was written for Fraser, relying on his brand of dopey optimism and charisma to sell it. Showerman instead seems like a frat boy who has wandered onto the set and been told to do his best. And while it may indeed be his best, it's not nearly good enough.
