10 WORST Actor Replacements In Movies

6. Evie - The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)

While George of the Jungle may have helped make Brendan Fraser's name in mainstream cinema, the Mummy franchise cemented it. Starring as rollicking adventurer Rick O'Connell, Fraser teamed up with John Hannah's Jonathan and Rachel Weisz's Evie to unearth some sarcophagi and deliver us some campy and fun, if critically disappointing, Universal monster magic (and whatever this is).

But the dream team wasn't to last, and come time for the late third entry in the main series - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - Weisz bailed on account of a bad script. Drafted in to replace her was Maria Bello who, while a fine actor in her own right, was all kinds of wrong for the part.

Firstly, she's American, and Evie is a Queen's English-Brit, meaning that her accent, while perfectly serviceable, never quite hits the spot. Secondly, she has a different physicality to her predecessor, jettisoning some of Evie's more delicate sensibilities in order to match her on-screen husband. But, thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, she doesn't have the same delivery and repartee with Rick and Jonathan. Maybe it's the years of watching Weisz that colours this, but it just feels like there's something missing.
