10 Worst Animated Movies Of The 2010s
6. Tarzan (2013)
The 3D Tarzan film released in 2013 was made by a production company called Constantin Films. And if you look up their filmography, it’s incredibly vast and impressive, from the Fu Man Chu series, the Dollar’s trilogy, The NeverEnding Story and every Fantastic Four film so far, this company has some serious chops. So how on Earth did they get to making this guff?!
Modernizing the story of Tarzan wasnever a bad idea, but this wasn’t the way to do it. This feature borrows from a lot of stories, most prominently James Cameron’s Avatar, with the plot of greedy white man with big bag military wanting to harness a natural energy source.
The film takes its sweet time to actually Tarzan as most of the first act is focused on his parent’s discovering this comet and being consumed by a volcano, whilst also having another subplot about a waring clan of gorillas. Then when we do get to the meat of the story, we juggle even more plot with Tarzan discovering humans, remembering his past, big company man wanting to use the resources for money, rediscovering humans after a few years, and about 5 other subplots, the film utterly fails to juggle so much within it’s run time.
And this is discounting the 3D element, which is executed so poorly, many viewers of the film complained of physical pain trying to watch the film as it was intended.
