10 Worst Comic Book Movie Climaxes

9. Suicide Squad

Green Lantern Parallax
Warner Bros.

Suicide Squad is a jumbled mess of a movie, which particularly shows in its ridiculous climax. In what was supposed to be the antithesis to the typical superhero blockbuster, we get an archetypically generic climax (complete with the now mandatory world-destroying skybeam) lathered in poorly conceived "style" in an attempt to cover up its faults.

One of the keys to a great superhero team finale is to see all the characters working together and bouncing their varying skills and personalities off each other. Here, half the characters barely do anything. There's nary a bit of teamwork on display, and characters like Captain Boomerang and Katana basically fall into the background. It's such a jumble of action that even El Diablo's sacrifice is quickly forgotten in the rubble.

But what really sinks this climax is just how unthreatening Enchantress comes off as a villain. We have a literal witch for an antagonist, and all she really does is stand there bellydancing whilst her brother does all the work. There is something interesting in how she dives into the characters' minds and shows them their fantasies, but it doesn't really play into the action the way Age of Ultron used the same idea just the year before.
