10 Worst Dads In Horror Movie History

3. Alvin Marsh - It (2017)

It's time to get back into Stephen King because if there's one thing he knows, it's how to write creepy-as-hell father figures.

The story of It is a nightmare-educing tale of a killer monster taking on the form of the things its victims fear the most. But, under the surface, Pennywise the Clown's assault on Derry is nothing compared to the adults of the town, who neglect, ignore and traumatise their kids. Still, even among them, none do it better than Alvin Marsh.

The Marsh family patriarch is a monster who dominates his daughter's life. He's overbearing, abusive and has a stranglehold on every aspect of her existence. The book and original miniseries present him as bad enough, but somehow, the 2017 movie took him even further.

In the novel and 1990 series, his abuse is more centred on control and emotional torment, with only implied sexual motives. However, the Andy Muschietti movie confirmed his sexual abuse towards Bev, painting him as an even more despicable and vile person.

Doing the things he does to anyone is unforgivable, but the fact he does it to his own daughter somehow makes it even worse.
