3. Joe Pesci Bails On Martin Scorsese's The Irishman

Martin Scorsese's new gangster flick The Irishman has been in the works for years, set to star Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci in one of the most illustrious casting line-ups of all time.

Sadly, it came to light recently that Pesci, who hasn't actively worked in film for almost 20 years, passed on the project, apparently telling Scorsese no repeatedly, even as Scorsese continually hopes to be able to lure him back.

It's heartbreaking news for anyone with even the faintest knowledge of this project, but if Pesci's happy being retired, then perhaps it's for the best, rather than pulling him back into the limelight for a half-hearted performance that fails to live up to the hype.
