10 Worst Disaster Movies Of All Time

7. Twister

There is nothing more awe-inspiring and terrifying in this world than witnessing a tornado, and there is nothing more dull and uninteresting than having a film about said tornadoes being directed by Jan de Bont.

Okay, okay, de Bont did direct Speed, which is good. But he also directed Speed 2: Cruise Control (what a great title) which is crap. So it's swings and roundabouts with him.

Twister, which is his second foray into directing, follows Helen Hunt as Dr. Joanne Harding and Bill Paxton as Bill "The Extreme" Harding, a pair of storm chasers who are looking to gather date from the inside of a F5 tornado.

Twister has solid special effects up the wazoo, especially for 1996. But they are all in service of a tired plot line that is as boring as it is unoriginal. Additionally, the characters are thinly drawn and the dialogue is woeful.

The cow flying at the screen (everyone remembers the cow), and the odd decision to make a tornado roar like it just walked off the set of Jurassic Park are all hilarious highlights. The majority of the film, however, is just dull.
