10 Worst Disaster Movies Of All Time
6. The Day After Tomorrow
Roland Emmerich strikes again with another dud! Well, not financially as The Day After Tomorrow was a massive hit back when it came out in 2005, but in every other sense of the word.
Frankly, it isn't Emmerich's worst film, not even close. But it might be his most dull, and certainly his most boring.
The film centers around a climate emergency as a new ice age threatens the world, and it's up to Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal to save the world.
There is definitely some decent stuff here. The tornado sequence in L.A. is fairly engaging, if a little like Emmerich recently watched Twister and thought "oh I'll show you how to do tornadoes! I've got six of them AND they're in L.A.".
But the majority of the film is just a drag. The human characters are beyond forgettable - if you remember a single character name from this please comment below and reconsider your taste in cinema.
There is the thrilling sequence when the main characters have to run away from the cold, something that M. Night Shyamalan clearly took inspiration from for when Mark Wahlberg runs away from the wind in The Happening.
