10 Worst Ever Accent Fails In Film

5. Michael Caine – The Weather Man

Michael Caine does one accent perfectly: Cockney. And very specifically, Michael Caine Cockney. All others are a matter for debate (including whether he is actually attempting another accent at all): as a case in point, remember that Get Carter is about a man born in Newcastle. Talk about losing your accent in the London smoke.

One thing is certain, his stab at the American accent falls flat on its face.

It seems apt that this fail would come in a film where he plays Nicolas Cage’s father, but it is difficult to work out whether the accent or the subject matter in the above clip is more difficult to stomach. It's a very close run thing.

Tip: say ‘my cocaine’ out loud (not if you are in public). That is a pretty accurate impression of Mr. Caine saying his own name in his native environment. Now watch Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon argue about doing a Michael Caine impression for a while.
