10 Worst Ever Accent Fails In Film

6. Harrison Ford – K19: The Widowmaker

Between 2002 and 2003, K19: The Widowmaker got released worldwide. A year later, Harrison Ford and his wife of 20 years - Melissa Mathison - were divorced. Okay, so she was not exactly widowed, but there is a theory out there that the catalyst was Ford’s Russian accent in the film.

Was it a coincidence? Probably.

Nevertheless the recurrent debate about whether or not go native and speak English with an accent or not was raised once again in K19. Another great example is Valkyrie where Tom Cruise has an America accent, his fellow Nazi officers Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson have English accents and some of the others have German accents but all speak English. It is all terribly lacking in uniformity.

Then again there is K19: The Widowmaker where the actors try their darnedest to do Russian accents. Harrison Ford is sometimes passable if you do not listen carefully. Most of the time however, he sounds like a drunk American, trying to do the accent of a Russian who is trying to do an American accent.
