6. Goose Coughs Up The Tesseract - Captain Marvel
Though she was missing from Infinity War entirely, having not been introduced to the MCU until several months later, Captain Marvel was brought to screens in time to make her appearance in Avengers: Endgame mean something.
Her solo movie, technically one long flashback as it took place throughout the 90s, showcased a young Fury and Coulson, introduced the Skrulls, and of course the titular hero. It also added to the backstory of the Tesseract.
As far as MCU fans were aware at the time, Howard Stark fished the Space Stone out of the water when Captain America was found, and it was in SHIELD’s possession until Loki stole it in 2012. However, in between these two events, the Tesseract was the subject of many tests by Dr. Lawson, and even went to space and back.
It was given to Goose the Flerkin for safe keeping, with him ultimately coughing it back up on Nick Fury’s desk in the movie’s post-credits scene. It tied that part of the story up nicely, but this should have and could have been part of the movie itself. There could have been something better to take its place after the credits had rolled.
