3. Tom Cruise And Nicole Kidman - Eyes Wide Shut

It's become an increasingly obvious notion that the only person in the world Tom Cruise is capable of having genuine chemistry with onscreen is Val Kilmer. (C'mon, the sexual tension between Maverick and Ice Man was practically dripping off them.) Whether he's opposite Cameron Diaz, Renee Zellwegger, or Penelope Cruz, the guy simply can't elevate his movie partnerships above the level of a middle school romance.

Particularly in his post-Katie Holmes state, Cruise eschews most of that chemistry nonsense by stuffing the romantic subplots off to the side in favor of heavy duty action set pieces.

That wasn't possible in Stanley Kubrick's "sexually charged" drama, Eyes Wide Shut. Cruise had nothing to hide behind, save for his real life relationship with onscreen wife Nicole Kidman. You'd think that security blanket might allow Tom to go all in, so to speak.

Instead, an erotic thriller about secret sex parties comes off about as sexy and impassioned as a bowling tournament. Watching Cruise and Kidman pretend to get it on is, honestly, more embarrassing than gratifying.

Hopefully their real love life was a little more scintilating.
