4. Campaigning To Have An Offensive Bust Moved - Black Christmas (2019)
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, as was categorically proven by the well-meaning Kris (Aleyse Shannon) in 2019's wildly divisive Black Christmas remake.
Kris quite nobly attempts to affect meaningful change at her academic institution of choice, Hawthorne College, by campaigning for a bust of the university's sexist founder, Calvin Hawthorne, to be moved from the campus' main building.
Kris is ultimately successful, which seems like a huge victory for her, until it's revealed at film's end that the bust was ultimately moved to the deeply problematic Delta Kappa Omicron fraternity.
It's at this point that the frat, aided by the evil Professor Gelson (Cary Elwes), discovers that the bust contains mysterious black goo which allows the spirit of Hawthorne to possess DKO's pledges and murder women on campus.
Basically, had Kris let the bust stay on public display, the frat would've probably never discovered its black magic potential. And so, she accidentally set their entire plan in motion, causing a ton of deaths in the process. Yikes.
