10 Worst Horror Movie Decisions With Unbelievable Consequences
3. Touching A Meteorite - Creepshow
One of the most memorable shorts in 1983's legendary horror anthology Creepshow is "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill," in which the titular yokel protagonist (played with hammy relish by Stephen King) sees a meteorite crash-land on his farm.
Rather than alert the authorities, Jordy ill-advisedly believes he can exploit the meteorite for his own wealth, though while handling it ends up spilling a glowing blue liquid inside the meteorite on both himself and his farm's soil.
Soon enough Jordy begins to notice grass growing on his skin where the liquid was spilled, and before long it's both grown extensively over his body and throughout his farm.
Jordy is eventually overcome entirely by the alien vegetation and, faced with no other choice, ultimately decides to shoot himself dead.
But the consequences for humanity appear to be far worse - the short ends with a news report revealing that heavy rains are on the way, as will likely expedite the plant's growth across the surrounding area and, most likely, the world.
Given that the short gives no indication of a way to stop the vegetation growing, it's implied that it will eventually cover the entire world. All because some hick spilled some meteor goo.
