10 Worst Horror Movie Decisions With Unbelievable Consequences

2. Refusing To Kill To Save The World - The Cabin In The Woods

The Cabin in the Woods concludes with protagonist Dana (Kristen Connolly) being urged to complete a sacrificial ritual to keep Earth safe from a fleet of subterranean deities known as the Ancient Ones.

Dana must kill her pal Marty (Fran Kranz) to finish the ritual, yet is quite reasonably uncomfortable about being given such an instruction.

And so, she refuses to participate, in turn knowingly dooming the entirety of the human race to be destroyed by the Ancient Ones, as actually happens moments later when they burst forth from below.

On one hand you can appreciate Dana's anger at being duped into taking part in a world-saving ritual, but on the other, killing Marty would've saved literally billions of people - a horrible act to avoid total global obliteration. For another year, at least, until the ritual had to be completed again.
