10 Worst Horror Movie One-Liners
4. “If she were any quieter, she’d be dead!” - Meg, Sleepaway Camp
Sleepaway Camp is the cream of the crop when it comes to hysterically bad slasher movie dialogue. Through the immensely weird script and the cast of inexperienced adolescent actors, this classic horror produced some of the incredibly daft character interactions that the subgenre has become known for.
The movie concerns a teenage boy, Richard and his mute cousin Angela attending a sleepaway summer camp, a setting typical of these kinds of movies. A lot of the dialogue misses the mark, as it tends is expected, and mostly consists of the characters drastically under-reacting or inexplicably overreacting to various situations.
Such a scene occurs when Meg, the excessive camp bully, says of Angela, the mostly mute main character, “If she were any quieter, she’d be dead!” Along with making absolutely no sense, the line is made even funnier by the actress’s over the top delivery. This is one horror movie that isn’t afraid to take outlandish swings, both in dialogue and story.
