10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2018
5. Slenderman
With a deep sigh, it's here we have to admit that a film based on an internet meme was never going to be the next Exorcist. Slenderman's potential actually looked to be something worthwhile by its original trailers however, sporting an oppressive, dark tone and some standout creepy moments befitting the titular monster's legacy.
Considering the whole legend has been tainted by two girls taking Slenderman as real and attempting to kill their classmate, it was a risky film to make: a risk that the filmmakers soon pulled back on in the cutting stage to reduce the film to a cobbled together mess missing its juiciest segments.
Slenderman is slow, boring, and unforgivably, it's half a movie. It doesn't function as it is on screen, coming out to very little fanfare despite having no real competition in the August box office. Whilst the whole premise is one that has fallen on its arse plenty of times before, that this one had a little beam of hope behind it made it all the worse.
