10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2019

2. Jacob’s Ladder

“Unnecessary remake” are words that get used a lot when describing modern takes on old horror movies. This is because remakes like Jacob’s Ladder keep getting green lit.

The original Jacob’s Ladder was a hallucinogenic fever dream with a lot to say about PTSD and the way mental health is handled in general. The remake is more concerned with an evil conspiracy, not leaving a whole lot of room for any interpretation.

The 2019 Jacob’s Ladder turns one of the most bizarre and atmospheric horror films of all time into a conspiracy thriller. Only a couple instances of supernatural hallucinations are in the film, disregarding the symbolism of the beloved original. What we are left with is a story that does not want to say much beyond what is on the surface. This would be fine for most movies but not Jacob's Ladder.
