10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2023

7. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines

All Fun and Games
Paramount

You probably didn't see it, but yes, they made another Pet Sematary movie this year.

Quietly curled out onto Paramount+ a few weeks before Halloween, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines serves as a prequel to 2019's rather middling remake, and marks a tepid attempt by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to create a Pet Sematary Universe.

Yeah, nobody was asking for that, nor a delve into the 50-years-prior backstory of Jud Crandall (Jackson White), which ends up feeling as forced and listless as you'd expect.

Sure, it's decently shot and the cast doesn't embarrass themselves, but the script has incredibly little of interest going on, in turn wasting the talented likes of Henry Thomas, Samantha Mathis, Pam Grier, and David Duchovny.

This is truly one of those bad movies that's just completely beige and anodyne, enough that you'll likely forget you ever watched it - or it ever even existed - within days of seeing it.

Where franchises are concerned, sometimes dead - wait for it - is better.
