3. Two Ghost Rider Movies
The idea of a live action Ghost Rider movie coming to the big screen was quite an exciting one prior to the actual release of it. After the success of the Blade trilogy, a more special effects-based character who was just as dark as the vampire hunter seemed to have all the traits required to be a success. Nicolas Cage - a fan of the character - was cast in the lead role and a supporting cast that included the likes of Eva Mendes, Peter Fonda, Sam Elliott and Wes Bentley was in place to ensure the movie was a success. But it wasn't. It was awful. It was lifeless, hammy and the lead character was more funny than he was frightening. Moreover, the villains - Bentley as Blackheart in particular - were some of the worst in comic book movie history. In the comics, Blackheart is a monstrous creature with reality-warping abilities and powerful magic at his disposal. In this movie, he was like an emo teenager. And then they went and made another movie - and it was even worse! It grossed less money and had an even less threatening villain. Why did they bother?! Only Marvel have the answer to that question.
