The main issue with Lonsdale's performance of villain Hugo Drax is that the character's personality does not synch up with his motives at all. One would expect a man determined to reboot all human life to be a little more outlandish, but Drax sleepwalks through many Moonraker scenes, backing up his plans with very little conviction. Although by no means the worst thing about the film, Lonsdale's performance was incredibly inconsistent with the rest of the movie. It's a well known fact that some Bond films are far too wacky for their own good, but to include such a reserved villain amidst all the chaos seems equally bizarre. A hammier actor may have actually been a better choice in this instance.
