10 Worst Marvel Movie Decisions

6. Casting Mads Mikkelsen As Kaecilius

For the most part, Marvel have a strong track record when it comes to casting decisions. There are great choices like the Chris trio of the MCU, and there are straight up perfect choices like Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and the Professor X/Magneto quartet of Stewart, McAvoy, McKellen, and Fassbender.

However, there are some casting decisions that were not so inspired. Topher Grace, Edward Norton, and Terrance Howard to name just a few. These all failed for different reasons, but possibly the most unique casting faux pas on the account of Marvel is that of Mads Mikkelsen.

The Hannibal actor portrayed the villainous Kaecilius in Doctor Strange, and while the character didn't exactly stand out, Mikkelsen did what he could with the material at his disposal. The problem here is not that he was bad, but that he was wasted.

Mads Mikkelsen is an incredibly talented actor, but was used in such a small way. Just think, after the Disney/Fox merger, who in the world would have been better to bring Doctor Doom to life in the MCU? Nobody, that's who. And for someone like Doom, a potential candidate for the next big bad after Thanos, the casting would have to be perfect.

Though there is precedent for an actor to play two separate characters in the MCU, this wouldn't work with a villain who would have as big of an impact on the franchise as Doom.
