10 Worst Marvel Superhero Movies Ever
7. X-Men: Dark Phoenix
It's actually frustrating how terrible this movie is. There was so much promise going into it, yet it just completely fell apart.
A bit before its release, it was announced that Disney had bought Fox, meaning that all the rights for the X-Men would be going back to Marvel. Which meant that Dark Phoenix would be the (presumed) end of this series of X-Men movies. There was a bit of a cause for concern going into the movie, with Apocalypse being a bit shaky beforehand and with the previous attempt at the Dark Phoenix storyline, The Last Stand, being disappointing, yet there was still hope for the movie to be solid.
Those hopes would get dashed.
The motivations for characters were all over the place, with them flip-flopping for the sake of story convenience. The ultimate bad guys for the movie were not the interesting alien Shi'ar from the comics, but a bunch of shapeshifting, generic aliens that just wanted power. And of course, Jean Grey going crazy was just as big of a dud this time around as it was the last time.
It failed as an end to the Fox X-Men movies, it failed as a comic book adaptation, and it failed as a movie just by itself. What a terrible way for this series to end.
