10 Worst Marvel Superhero Movies Ever
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony and Marvel have a very interesting deal when it comes to Spider-Man, as Sony owns the film rights for the character, yet "leases" him and his villains out for MCU movies. The reason for this deal is because of how terribly the Amazing Spider-Man 2 turned out.
After a so/so first outing, the second movie was a big step down in quality. Obsessed with trying to make their own Spidey Cinematic Universe and set up a Sinister Six, Sony stuffed the movie with villains, creating a very messy and very uninteresting plot. Aside from a few scenes with Emma Stone's Gwen, and a fantastic scene of Spidey saving a kid from bullies (that he had to fight for), Andrew Garfield had very little chance to shine, and with the terrible characterization of most of the characters, the same could be said for the rest of the cast.
The movie went well below expectations, and it was so bad that Sony figured the only way they could make money with the character going forward was if they teamed up with Marvel Studios, and as such, Peter Parker officially was added into the MCU.
