One of Endgame's most memorable scenes occurs on Vormir, where Black Widow and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) battle over who will sacrifice themselves to grant the other the Soul Stone, ending of course with Black Widow taking a voluntary plunge off a cliff.

But the scene was substantially reworked from its original iteration, which contextualised the nature of Natasha's sacrifice in a totally different way.

Originally, Widow and Hawkeye were attacked by Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army while on Vormir, resulting in Natasha sustaining significant injuries before pulling herself over the edge of the cliff, saving Hawkeye from Thanos in the process.

Unfortunately this version of the scene would've seriously undermined the nature of Natasha's sacrifice, making it a necessity as a result of her wounds rather than an act of her own agency as it is in the final version.

Furthermore, the shootout with Thanos' army isn't particularly interesting, and apart from the shot of Hawkeye looking on as Natasha takes her fateful plunge, there's nothing visually remarkable about it at all.
