10 Worst MCU Films (So Far)

5. Thor

Eternals Marvel
Marvel Studios

Thor could've been really, really good. After all, it's visually stunning, has the MCU's first great villain in the form of Tom Hiddleston's Loki and best of all, it's got a very compelling hero (Chris Hemsworth) with a fleshed-out character arc.

Unfortunately, the rest of the film lets it all down.

Aside from the strong character work, Thor is pretty boring. The action sequences are terrible, the pacing is totally off and Thor himself spends too much time on earth hanging out with some pretty terrible human characters, one of whom he has a chemistry-free romance with.

It also wastes a notable number of great actors: Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Rene Russo, Anthony Hopkins and perhaps worst of all, poor Natalie Portman, who plays what is pretty much the worst love interest in MCU history.

Sadly, this was a sign of things to come in regards to Thor. Chris Hemsworth has always been fantastic as him, but his solo films - this, the even worse Thor: The Dark World (more on that shortly) and the heavily over-praised Thor: Ragnarok - have left so much to be desired. Hopefully we'll finally get a truly excellent Thor film with Thor: Love and Thunder.
