10 Worst Modern Comic Book Character Adaptations

1. Catwoman (Catwoman)

Bruce Wayne Batman
Warner Bros.

Apologies for making you remember this movie but unfortunately it wasn't just a bad dream.

Catwoman as portrayed by Halle Berry in 2004 was without a doubt the worst big screen adaptation of a comic book character, ever. Retaining nearly nothing of the source material other than the name and cat's ears, this iteration is an embarrassment to cinema.

Despite the calibre of talent involved in this film, there was no saving it due to the backlash regarding it's lead. Portraying 'Patience Phillips', a meek and shy graphic designer who is killed by her villainous boss only to be revived by an Egyptian Cat God, Halle Berry did all she could to make this character work. Unfortunately there was truly no saving this, with a completely laughable backstory and relying on shoddy CGI coupled with shoddy story elements, this iteration is better off forgotten.

The Catwoman that it was trying to imitate did not rely on supernatural powers or convoluted storytelling, the original was a simple antithesis of Batman. Using her intelligence, skills and seduction to her advantage she takes as she wants and very rarely relies on brute force to resolve a situation.

Unfortunately the 2004 Catwoman exists and there is nothing to be done about it, other than pretend it never happened.
