10 Worst Movie CGI Of 2020
9. Dolittle & The Dragon - Dolittle
Dolittle was one of 2020's biggest and most embarrassing box office bombs, a $175 million money pit which Universal desperately attempted to rescue in post-production to no avail.
Anthropomorphic CGI animals are always tough to get right, all the more so when they actually open their mouths and speak like a human being would.
But the Robert Downey Jr.-starring fantasy dud saved its worst effects crime for last, when Dolittle (Downey Jr.) crosses paths with a dragon suffering an intestinal blockage.
Physical actors interacting with digital creatures rarely works believably, and in this case it's never even remotely convincing that Downey Jr. is being picked up and swung around by the dragon's tail.
That's not to ignore the wholly traumatic, visually hideous sequence where Dolittle removes items such as bagpipes and a suit of armour from the dragon's colon. From top to bottom, an ill-conceived movie that doesn't even look remotely good.
