10 Worst Movie Characters Of 2020 (So Far)

9. James Coffee (Ed Helms) - Coffee & Kareem

Even accepting the fact that 2020 isn't a great time for movies featuring cop protagonists, Netflix's ultra-lame buddy comedy Coffee & Kareem is fronted by one of the year's most insufferably lazy characters.

James Coffee (Ed Helms) is a bumbling police officer who ends up on the run with his partner's (Taraji P. Henson) 12-year-old son Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), and delivers pretty much the least imaginative riff on "Ed Helms as a cop" you could possibly imagine.

As a character, Coffee plays like an SNL skit inexplicably allowed to hijack somebody else's movie - he's pretty much just Andy from The Office with a gun and badge.

But without much in the way of amusing one-liners, Cofee is just a gratingly loud, exhaustingly neurotic a**hole, and not even the committed work of a solid supporting cast - especially an off-the-rails Betty Gilpin - can hide this.
