8. Any Scene Featuring Kiefer Sutherland - Pompeii
Summit Entertainment
The Scene: This isn't any particular scene, but pretty much the entirety of Kiefer Sutherland's screen time in Paul W.S. Anderson's wretched epic disaster flick. Sutherland plays the villain of the piece, the vile Senator Corvus, and overacts like his life depends on it.
Why It Sucks: In fairness, Sutherland is one of the few actors in the movie who appears to realise that he's in a dud, though we can't help but cringe uncomfortably as he rattles his way through his lines with a ropey English accent that has been compared to both Vincent Price and Laurence Olivier. His wildly hammy, scenery-devouring performance is distracting in every single scene, and though it's at least perversely hilarious, we can't quite put our finger on what Sutherland was shooting for, and why Anderson didn't set him straight while they were filming.
