8. Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium

Because of its awful title and garish advertising campaign featuring eyeball-damaging posters like this, I never actually got around to watching it, though the critical consensus appears to be that it's a bland comedy that misguidedly tries to compensate for its shortcomings with a wacky title. Nothing about this poster screams "Watch this movie!", with even the usually reliable presences of Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman being completely undermined by the extraordinary lazy title, which presumably involved writer-director Zach Helm using the first smattering of syllabes that came to mind that could rhyme with the word "emporium". Alright, he's trying to appeal to kids, fine. But really? Isn't this just sort of patronising and insulting? Kids deserve better.
