10 Worst Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
1. Cats
Cats was a disaster. As well as being panned by practically everyone, it also performed poorly at the box office. This isn't surprising given how much negativity the film garnered even before it was released.
Observing the likes of Judi Dench, Idris Elba, and Ian McKellen being warped into CGI cats is both funny and terrifying. The decision to present the characters in such a way will go down as one of the worst decisions in the history of cinema. It would have been much wiser to have used authentic costumes like those in the original musical.
There are also several specific moments which stand out for all the wrong reasons. Rebel Wilson’s accident with the mousetrap, James Corden spitting on a fellow cat, and the shot with the cutlery are all ludicrously bad.
The other strange thing about this brief look at Cats is how often it uses text. Possibly due to the film’s lack of interesting plot points, the trailer overemphasises the cast and crew and largely ignores the story.
In fairness, the cinematography is pretty and Jennifer Hudson’s version of ‘Memory’ is decent. However, these positives fall into irrelevance against the sea of problems that persist through this trailer.
