2. The Emoji Movie
The Emoji Movie should never have been made. It was nothing more than an attempt to capitalise on one of the worst trends of the 2010s.
This trailer is exactly what you’d expect it to be. It’s full of editing clichés, crass humour, unremarkable animation, and the celebrity voiceovers only heighten the stupidity of the film.
Yet the worst aspect of The Emoji Movie is how much it rips-off Inside Out. Even from this brief insight, it’s obvious how much was stolen from Pixar’s masterpiece. Far from making the movie more appealing, this blatant theft manages to lessen the quality of the trailer still further.
As such, the critical disdain The Emoji Movie received was hardly surprising. Amazingly, however, the movie still managed to be a financial success. Why anyone would want to see it based on this trailer will always remain a mystery.
