10 Worst Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Andrew Garfield’s final outing as Spider-Man was not his finest hour. Yet the film would certainly have been more enjoyable if it hadn’t been spoilt beforehand.
In less than three minutes, this trailer unveils far too many plot points. Harry and Electro’s partnership, Harry’s transformation into the Green Goblin, Peter hearing his deceased father’s message, and Spider-Man’s final fight with Rhino are all spoiled here.
The other main issue with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was how reminiscent it was of Spider-Man 3. The excessive number of villains in Sam Rami’s final film was a big problem, and as such, trailers such as this made it clear that the lessons of the past had not been learnt.
In fairness, the marketing for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn’t prevent it being a financial success, but it would have been a much more enjoyable film had they removed several villains and not spoiled the story beforehand.
