10 Worst Movies Of 2023 (So Far)
5. Ghosted
If it was eventually revealed that Apple's new action rom-com Ghosted was in fact written by an AI, it wouldn't surprise anybody.
Despite touting the red-hot pairing of Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, alongside the writers responsible for both the Deadpool and MCU Spider-Man movies, not to mention skilled director Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman), this is a painfully by-the-numbers outing in desperate search of a personality.
The boilerplate narrative might've been forgivable if it were fun to spend two hours with these characters, yet the most shocking thing about Ghosted is the odd lack of chemistry between Evans and de Armas - all the more so given their brilliant prior pairing in Knives Out.
Even generous helpings of action and a glut of surprise cameos from Evans' MCU friends can't do much to spice things up, ensuring this film feels like it was tailor-made to be watched while scrolling on your phone or doing your laundry.
This is what happens when a streaming service commissions a movie as Content rather than art.
