10 Worst Movies That Hollywood Almost Made

5. Fantastic Four...Directed By Peyton Reed

Look at Peyton Reed's filmography and then tell me that him directing a superhero film is a good idea. The guy's CV to date includes Bring It On, Down with Love, The Break-Up and Yes Man. Even though only two of these films were out by the time he was picked to direct, it was clear that the guy was not at all suited for the job at hand; being a director of not-awful chick flicks does not qualify you for directing high-octane action films. Apparently this was part of Fox's (downright stupid) attempt to make Fantastic Four a light and fluffy superhero pic in contrast to X-Men's grit. Dr. Doom wouldn't make his presence felt until the very end of the film, and the majority of the screen time would be devoted to goofy gags as the four get acquainted with their super-powers. Though most of this did go into Tim Story's Fantastic Four, and the result was pretty damn awful, with a rom-com director at the helm, one can imagine it could only have been more anodyne and brainless.
