10 Worst Movies That Hollywood Almost Made

2. Spider-Man: The B-Movie

Now, don't get me wrong; I love Roger Corman and the hilarious B-movies he's produced and directed over the last 50 years, as well as all the Hollywood careers (perhaps most famously Jack Nicholson) that he has nurtured. At one stage in the early 1980s, however, Corman was going to take his B-movie aesthetic and transpose it onto something unimaginable - the superhero movie. I suppose it's difficult to imagine now, in the age of glossy, high-end blockbuster superhero movies, but yes, Corman was planning to develop a low-budget cheeseball Spider-Man adaptation, and even had a script ready to go from Stan Lee. The narrative would follow Peter Parker while he juggled relationships with Mary Jane and a hot KGB agent (you can tell when this was written), while trying to fend off Doctor Octopus, who was trying to instigate nuclear war. If the low-rent adaptations of The Punisher and The Fantastic Four from back in the day have taught us anything, it's that directors need to go big or go home.
