10 Worst Oscar Winning Actors Ever
7. Jon Voight
Jon Voight is a once-talented actor who stopped giving a damn a long, long time ago, and his general acting rep has taken a major hit as a result.
After delivering memorable early performances in the likes of Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance, Voight scooped a Best Actor Oscar for his turn in 1978 war drama Coming Home.
Even ignoring the fact he blatantly robbed Robert De Niro of a win for The Deer Hunter, Voight's performance was merely decent in a schmaltzy, over-sentimental movie. From the 80s onward, Voight basically pimped himself out for a paycheck for the most part, starring in card-carrying schlock, TV movies and, eventually, four Baby Geniuses movies. Oof.
Though he still picks up an occasional awards nomination largely for appealing to the old-guard of Hollywood - he was admittedly decent in Ali and fine in TV show Ray Donovan - he's a prime instance of an actor who hasn't really cared about his craft for literally decades.
By slumming his way through so many awful films over the years, he's fatally diluted his brand to the point that his appearance in a movie is a sign of caution rather than a ringing endorsement.
