10 Worst Performances In 2017 Movies (So Far)

8. Zac Efron - Baywatch

Charlie Hunnam King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword
Paramount

Zac Efron usually plays the same type of character in all his comedy movies: a loud, brash, party-loving frat-boy.

That could get annoying - and fast - but fortunately, these characters usually have a more human side to make up for their arrogant exterior, and you get the sense that they're only overconfident because they're trying to mask self-esteem or loneliness issues.

For example, there's a quiet scene in Bad Neighbours where Efron's Teddy and Seth Rogen's Mac just sit down and chat about their favourite Batman. As the movie progresses, we find that Teddy only acts like a d*ck because he loves his friends and wants them all to have a truly memorable time as a part of his fraternity.

But what's our point? Efron usually brings some depth to his party-animal roles. In Baywatch, however, he disregards this idea entirely. Efron is unlikeable from start to end with little change, no redeeming qualities, and nothing to the character besides his selfishness and vanity.

Some of the blame does fall on the screenwriter, but the actor could have at least tried to bring something else to the table.
