10 Worst Performances In 2017 Movies (So Far)
4. Dax Shepard - CHiPS

CHiPS clearly wants to be the next 21 Jump Street, but it's missing the smart, trope-destroying attitude that made the surprisingly good Tatum-Hill vehicle such a success.
Star Dax Shepard - who also wrote and directed - is one of the film's biggest problems. Just look at that dumb, awkward, juvenile look plastered on his face in basically every promotional image; that's representative of the brand of humour he brings to proceedings, which is all crude, toilet-based, and lacking any substance or wit.
After about 15 minutes, it'll start to get incredibly annoying. Shepard is reminiscent of Sandler at his worst, playing out predictable gag after predictable gag - there's the "men leering at bent-over women" joke, and the "man accidentally touching another man's junk" joke, for example - none of which are done with any oomph or originality. Shepard is going through the motions and checking boxes along the way.
You'll end up hating the film and hating his performance, which is terrible at best and offensive at worst. Can we please just get 23 Jump Street?
