10 Worst Performances In Awesome 2017 Movies
4. Richard E. Grant – Logan
James Mangold’s Logan blistered its way onto the big screen back in March to critical acclaim. A superhero movie like no other, the R-rated Logan was grittier and gorier than any Marvel movie we’d seen before and boasted amazing performances from Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart in their final outings as their X-Men characters and a breakout out turn from Dafne Keen to boot.
If there’s a drizzling of weak sauce in the mix, however, it’s Richard E. Grant’s not-so-mad scientist Dr Zander Rice. Granted (pun intended), his character is a tad side-lined only showing up in Logan’s second half. Regardless, Grant fails to make much of an impact as an evil mastermind with a banal, underwhelming performance that barely registers.
Grant didn't necessarily need to have gone full Dr Frankenstein, but he comes across as so detached and decidedly un-creepy that Dr Zander Rice ends up a nonentity who seems surplus to the requirements of the movie.
